Opinion:
Stop Accusing Governor Godwin Obaseki Of Pursuing His Personal Interest.
According to the PDP members who are migrating from PDP to APC, and those that are migrating from APC to PDP, do so in response to the demands of personal interest.The political migrants are not in the movement for the collective interest of the people of Edo State.They are simply moving in pursuit of their personal interest.Edo people should not take them serious and should not listen to their self serving reasons for their selfish actions.
The politicians leaving PDP to join APC have no reason to accuse Governor Obaseki of any wrong doing.Obaseki is pursuing his personal interest, and those leaving PDP for APC are equally pursuing their personal interest.
Monday Okpebholo is not better than Asue Ighodalo.Both are candidates of the godfathers outside Edo Central Senatorial district,and were never nominated or elected by the good people of Esan land .The Esan people that I know,in their political sophistication, from Anthony Enahoro to Ambrose Alli,Tony Anenih, etc , cannot leave acceptable and popular candidates such as Prof Oserheimen Osunbor,Barrister Kenneth Imasuagbon,(the rice man),etc to choose a stranger that cannot speak or understand Esan language, or another that had no competence to speak on the floor of Senate on behalf of his Constituency .APC is not better than PDP or any other political party.PDP is not better than APC or any other political party.The real issue that the electorates should examine is the antecedents of the candidates.
If election is free and fair,I know that the people of Edo State will not elect a stranger as their governor and will not choose mediocrity over meritocracy.Neither Asue Ighodalo nor Monday Okpebholo has the competence to serve as the governor of Edo State, and cannot win the governorship election.Edo people are aware that one is boasting with the incumbency and the resources of Edo State.It is the scramble to share in the resources of Edo State,not the quality of Asue Ighodalo or the quality of the PDP that is attracting the migrants from APC to PDP.Conversely,the other from APC is boasting with the federal might, telling all those who care to listen that Edo State government is a gift waiting to be delivered to APC and Okpebholo by the might of the federal government.Those that are migrating from PDP to APC are doing so not for the quality of Okpebholo or the quality of the APC,but to join in the sharing of the loot that will be available from the gift.
Edo people are enlightened and are aware of these facts.The collective will of the people of Edo State and the grace of God will defeat the evil agenda to handover the collective resources of Edo State to some mindless godfathers that have no interest in the development of Edo State.
I am in the governorship contest to work with all good men and women in all the political parties, and non partisan patriotic citizens in the three Senatorial districts to defeat the evil agenda of the godfathers.They are clear enemies of democracy and the people of Edo State should turn out in high numbers to reject them at the polls.
The theme of our campaign,APGA, is democracy for Edo State.This will be achieved through the alliance of all good citizens of Edo State irrespective of political party.It is the electorate,not the political party that will determine the next governor of Edo State.
Our cardinal agenda are :1.Rule of Law and Due Process,
2 Accountability to the people, not to any godfather,
3,Independence of the Judiciary,
4 Independence of Edo State House of Assembly and
5,the Autonomy of the Local Governments in Edo State.
.These are pillars of democracy and are completely absent in the present government of Edo State.
APGA agenda will enthrone and entrench the pillars of democracy in Edo State.This will necessitate good governance.
APGA does not boast , but it is a fact that it’s governorship candidate,Dr Isaiah Osifo is the best candidate for Edo State 2024 governorship election.
All good men and women of Edo State know that the country and the State are going through challenging times, and it is the best that is good enough for Edo State .
