Sir, I will not want to bother you on the acquisition process of the Obajana Cement factory now Dangote Cement PLC in Obajana. This is partly because every capitalist always seeks for opportunities to maximize profit. I only fault the vision less or probably poor forecast on the part of Kogi Leaders.
The main reason for reaching out to you through this platform/medium is your extremely poor and abysmal performance as it concerns Dangote Cement PLC’s Corporate Social Responsibility in Kogi State.
Firstly, let me remind you categorically that behind your huge success story today, the Confluence State played a major part. As the richest man in Africa for eleven years in a row, with a net worth of around $13 billion, the Dangote’s fortune is primarily built from Dangote Cement. It is safe to say Kogi State is the golden goose that lay the golden eggs.
Today, the majority of Dangote’s fortune comes from Dangote Cement, which produces 45.6 million metric tons of cement every year and operates in 10 African countries.
You need a retrospect assessment of your financial class pre Obajana Cement factory and juxtapose with with what you have given back to Kogi State.
In 2021, Dangote Cement Group was reported to have achieved a quarterly revenue of N332.7 Billion, approximately US$808.5 million, comparatively, I doubt if your contribution to Kogi State in terms of Corporate Social Responsibilities, taxes and royalties is worth mentioning in public.
Well, I do not want to dwell on that because we have a body responsible for such, If they don’t do that appropriately, it’s their fault and not yours.
Back to the matter at hand. CSR to Kogi.
I did a background check on your contributions to the society and what I found is mind blowing mostly because Kogi State, the golden goose is conveniently neglected.
How has Kogi State benefited from Dangote Foundation, a foundation that gives more $100 million over the years to causes in Education, Arts, and Humanitarian relief with an endowment of a reported $1.25 billion?
In 2019, Kano, your home state was bequeathed a $3.3 million complex to Bayero University Business School. The 200 housing units to Boko Haram victims, the $800,000 to the University of Ibadan and the $2.7 million hostel to the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria are all examples of your philanthropic activities outside Kogi State.
Dear Aliko Dangote sir, do you have a hundred million health facility in Kogi State?
Where are your interventions in our schools and communities?
Perhaps you need a reminder of how you are successfully reducing lives in Kogi State.
Your drivers that plies the roads in Kogi State are major contributors to accidents caused in Kogi, killing Kogites virtually every month.
Their reckless driving has not only lead to the loss of many bread winners but has also gotten many incapacitated in one way or the other.
Yet, no single hospital built by Dangote group in Kogi State.
How about our roads?
The thousands of trailers carrying loads beyond the standard description/guage for the Nigerian roads thereby causing serious damages on our roads. Ask yourself if you have ever constructed a kilometer of road anywhere in Kogi that is not tax converted by the Federal Government.
Please prove me wrong with verifiable details on this.
How about our Schools?
Kogi State has up to ten Higher Institution of learning across the State.
Sir, have you ever constructed a lecture theatre or contributed to facilitate the building of any structure across all these schools?
Oh, Aliko Dangote the richest black man in planet Earth.
I will also be glad if you can prove me wrong with verifiable evidences too probably pictorials.
Not even our primary or secondary schools got any of your attention.
All the major raw material resources used is gotten from Kogi State.
You are degrading Ankpa by your coal mining activities, your drivers have damaged the roads yet nothing to show for in the whole of Kogi East. I don’t even want to talk about the environmental hazard caused at Obanaja and environs by your company’s activities.
How do you rate Kogites?
Maybe our leaders past and present sold us out. Maybe our traditional rulers around the areas sold us out too.
Kogites have given you unprecedented cooperation and allowed peaceful operation of your business despite the untold hardship these activities has had on them.
Why can’t you pay us back for this kind deposition towards you.
It’s time you look inward and start doing the needful to your business environment.
