ONU ABOCHO PAYS A COURTESY AND CONGRATULATORY VISIT TO PAAU VICE-CHANCELLOR

…Reaffirms Commitment to Institutional Advancement

The Onu Abocho, His Royal Highness, Chief Jonah Idris Okai, has reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional institution to supporting the administration of the Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, during a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the University.

The visit, which took place on Friday, 24th July, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Senate Building, was to congratulate Prof. Usman on his well-deserved appointment and commend the remarkable strides recorded by his administration since assuming office on 11th February, 2026.

The Royal Father was accompanied by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Shaibu Okolo, Ogohi Onu Anyigba; His Royal Highness, Chief Khalid A. Bukar II, Ohiogba of Mozum Kingdom and Provost of the Kogi State Council of Chiefs amongst others.

Speaking during the visit, the Onu Abocho said the traditional institution was impressed by the purposeful leadership demonstrated by the Vice-Chancellor within a short period in office, noting that the Vice-Chancellor’s administration had already recorded commendable achievements.

He observed that the Vice-Chancellor’s decisive actions had restored discipline, improved orderliness and strengthened efforts aimed at addressing social vices within the University community.

The Royal Father described Prof. Usman as an outstanding administrator whose exemplary leadership had distinguished him among the worthy sons of the Igala Kingdom, expressing confidence in his ability to take the University to greater heights.

He reassured the Vice-Chancellor of the prayers and support of the traditional institution, adding that the palace would continue to identify with his administration in its efforts to reposition the University.

The Onu Abocho pledged to mobilise Igala sons and daughters towards supporting the growth and development of Prince Abubakar Audu University, particularly in the area of infrastructure, stressing that the institution belongs to everyone and deserves the collective support of all stakeholders.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, expressed profound appreciation to the Onu Abocho and his entourage for the visit and their words of encouragement.

He particularly appreciated the Ogohi Onu Anyigba and other traditional rulers for their continued support in tackling security challenges and other social vices within the University and its host communities, noting that the cordial relationship between the University and the traditional institution had significantly contributed to restoring peace and order on the Campus.

Prof. Usman appealed for sustained collaboration and support from the traditional institution, stressing that the collective responsibility of all stakeholders was to ensure that the University produce graduates who would be academically sound, morally upright and globally competitive.

He also called on all sons and daughters of the districts and beyond to continue to support the advancement of Prince Abubakar Audu University, noting that government alone could not provide all the required growth and development of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the Royal Fathers of his administration’s commitment to strengthening the existing relationship between the University and its host communities, adding that the Institution would continue to partner with traditional institutions in promoting peace, development and academic excellence.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of copies of the maiden edition of the PAAU Bulletin to the Royal Fathers by the Vice-Chancellor.
