By joshua ‘ONE FAMILY, ONE DESTINY’: SEN. KARIMI EXTENDS HAND OF FELLOWSHIP TO KOGI WEST APC AFTER PRIMARY
The dust is settling in Kogi West as Senator Sunday Steve Karimi has made a direct appeal for unity, healing, and reconciliation across the All Progressives Congress, APC, following the conclusion of the party’s primary.
In a statement issued after the exercise, the Kogi West Senator declared that “political contests are temporary” and stressed that the collective destiny of the party and its people must take precedence over individual ambitions.
Sen. Karimi expressed gratitude to Almighty God, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, the NWC, and all stakeholders who ensured the integrity of the process. He also singled out his fellow aspirants — Sen. Smart Adeyemi, Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro, Alh. Tajudeen Bismillahi, Hon. Folaranmi Onirinwa, Hon. Abubakar Ola Zakari, and Chief Doyin Eshanumi Ibikunle — for what he described as maturity and commitment to the party.
Acknowledging that emotions run high during contests, the Senator apologized for any offence caused during the primary and said he has forgiven every hurt directed at him.
“The future of our party is far more important than the disagreements of yesterday,” he stated. “Now is the time for every rhetoric of the primary to give way to the language of reconciliation, unity and shared purpose.”
He urged all APC members in Kogi West to “close ranks, rebuild where necessary, and present a strong, united front” ahead of the general election, noting that the assignment now is to deliver for President Tinubu and preserve the stability of the party.
Shifting focus to governance, Karimi said conversations must now move from competition to development. He pledged to redouble efforts at uniting stakeholders, deepening representation, and attracting more dividends of democracy to every community in Kogi West.
He also reaffirmed support for all tiers of government in the state to accelerate good governance and improve citizens’ welfare.
“There is neither victor nor vanquished. There is only one party, one people and one common destiny,” the Senator concluded. “The primary is over. Our greater assignment has begun.”
