The Okpuje Patriots have commended the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his decisive intervention in the kidnap case of Prof. Monday Lewis Igbafen of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma to ensure justice and the recovery of personal effects, including his Highlander SUV.
The Okpuje Patriots is a group of progressive socialist-inclined youths of Okpuje in Iuleha, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
In a press release in Benin City, the group’s Acting Converner, Hon. Idonuan Agbonlua maintained that Governor Okpebholo’s intervention in the kidnap case is commendable and a demonstration of his concern for the security and safety of citizens in the State.
Prof. Igbafen had, through his lawyer, Prof Bola Adekanle, petitioned the Governor to intervene and cause police’s reinvestigation of his kidnap as a result of alleged unsatisfactory police investigation which left his valuable effects, including Highlander SUV unrecovered.
Prof. Monday Lewis Igbafen was kidnapped on September 28, 2024, at the gate of his residence at Ekpoma.
While the principal suspects of the kidnap were arrested and his mobile phone recovered from them, his Highlander SUV and other valuables have not been recovered till date.
While giving kudos to the Governor for his personal intervention, the group pledged its support for Governor Okpebholo’s anti-kidnapping crusade and his commitment to restoration of lasting peace and security in the State.
