Okene check point to Okpella Road: Kogi State Government appeals for calm, begs FG for quick intervention.

The Kogi State government has appealed for patience from Motorists plying the Okene checkpoint road to Okpella road in Edo State.

The State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Sadiku Ohere, FNSE, made the appeal while assessing the situation of the roads that has resulted in an unending traffic gridlock over the last two weeks.

Engr. Ohere says the state government is doing every thing humanly possible to draw the attention of the federal government to the deplorable situation of the road.

In his words, ” The state Governor is in touch with the Agencies of the federal government responsible for the maintenance of this critical roads. This is with a view to drawing their attention to the ugly situation”.

He equally affirmed that the State Government’s intervention is already yielding results as messrs MotherCat Construction company, the contractor handling Section II of the Dualization of Lokoja – Benin Road has been directed to resume work at the bad sections immediately.

Engr Ohere therefore appealed for calm and patient from the motorists, assuring that roads that are directly under the supervision of the state government will continue to receive prompt and very proactive attention to forestall total damage.

At Ozuma and utabor in Okengwe, Engr. Ohere commended the contractor, Messrs Powerhill Limited for opening up the constructed culvert for community use and for all other ongoing activities including that of Agassa junction to total filling station intervention.

Engr. Ohere further congratulated Gov. Yahaya Bello for his political leadership and influence that recently culminated in the award of 44 kilometers of roads from Kabba to the State boundary in Ekiti state by the Federal government,
stating that it shows that the “let’s do more “ vision of Gov. Bello was actually a reality.
