The Director General/CEO Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Professor Adepoju who after moving round the facilities of his Alma mater, Offa Grammar School Offa in Kwara State during the recent 35 years Graduation Anniversary of the 1986 Set, laments the state of infrastructure in the college.
Adepoju who said that the college presently is in a sorry state and need urgent attention to get it back on track.
“These classrooms that then was housing 30 or maximum 40 students in a class now house almost a hundred students in same facility without provision for such”
With this condition he said, it will be difficult for the students to learn effectively as it will also be difficult for the teachers to teach effectively with the size of students per class.
“The college lacks adequate government attention both in infrastructure and in human resources. The college needs more competent teachers who are committed to the raising of the standard to meet up with what we use to have”
He further confirmed that though the government may not be able to do everything but should do the little it can.
He called on all stakeholders in education and the entire old student to come round to salvage the present delapidated condition the college is faced with.
In his goodwill message to his colleagues, Prof Adepoju said “I am indeed grateful to God Almighty who has brought us thus far in the journey of life. To him alone be the glory. If it had not been for Him, where would we have been?
“Let us celebrate life and the grace of God upon our lives for making us to come together after many decades since we parted. We have all grown up from the naivety of youth and become responsible adults that cater for families and other dependents. Fate has made us who we are today and we should not take for granted God’s mercy and favour upon our lives”
“I implore every one of us to continue to rediscover ourselves on daily basis as therein lay the secret to being relevant and regenerate our inner mind to tackle conditions and circumstances we find ourselves At every point in time, self-appraisal is key as the legacy we leave is the life we lead. We lead our lives daily, and we leave a legacy daily”
“As we celebrate past and present friendship, may the bond of old times strengthen us for the future and may the grace of God lead us unto greater successes in all our endeavours”.
