Ogbemudia Donates Relief Materials To Benin IDP Camp, Promises More Support

A governorship Aspirant on the Labour Party,LP, platform Ogbemudia Bassey Osagie has advised the government to give attention to the Internally Displaced Persons , IDPS, In the country so as to give the children a sense of belonging.

Ogbemudia made the assertion when he paid a visit to the IDP camp at Uhogua In Ovia northeast local government area near Benin city.

“I know they have IDP Camp in Nigeria, but I was not aware that they have one in Edo State, until a friend of mine drew my attention to it. They showed me some of the petitioners from there. I have never been to any IDP Camp then I decided to go and then to know their way of life, so I called the coordinator and arranged to go.

He said “I was very depressed to see the environments the children were leaving
I have never seen that in real life.

According to him, “After gathering all the necessary information from the Camp I decided to send my team to the market to buy some items which we gave to them. It was tasking to me I have never seen such before now. You see children sitting on the floor in the class.

“I saw the children running and playing around and very excited. They look good, but the living environment is very bad , for me it is sad and upsetting.”

The government should give support to IDP Camps so that children can have a better life. As a government we should be able to facilitate and make some private campus in supporting them.

Ogbemudia said, I have told my friend Chucks Igbinedion in Canada that when I’m back we will meet to set up a kind of partnership to know how best we can care and support the IDP Camp in big form , because in Canada they are good in supporting this kind of project. we will do everything possible to give the IDP a big support.

What motivated me to actually go there was because I wanted to know what kind of life they are living.

IDPS will be giving a priority when I become the governor and you people can hold me accountable if I fail in my promises.

Ogbemudia Bassey Osagie pleaded with government at all levels in Nigera and nations of the world to join in investing in the lives of the children, adding that over 3,000 imates are currently being taken care of by the foundation.
