The Editorial Community Development Service Group of the National Youth Service Corp has paid a courtesy visit and solicited collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Kogi state chapter to promote activities of the scheme in the state and learn from the Union adherence to the ethics of journalism.
The spokesman of the group, Corper Abbas Yahaya while making the request during the courtesy visit to the NUJ Vice Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Suleiman in Lokoja said the Editorial Group members are embryonic Journalist who are still crawling in the field of the Pen profession and will be glad to partner with the Union to build capacity.
“I thanked the Executive Vice Chairman of the NUJ for giving us audience and meeting to further strengthen our relationship.
“We pray for a more robust relationship that will help us develop the NYSC and also move the state forward,” he said.
The group noted that journalists and the NYSC Editorial are stakeholders in the Kogi project hence the need to work together in order to achieve the objective.
They hope such meeting will continue to hold in order to give the NYSC wider coverage towards the development of the state .
“We will call you from time to time to cover our programmes and also the Community Development Service programme of corps members,” he said.
In his remark, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman, Vice chairman of the Union said that the body under the state chapter of the NUJ was made up of State and National media reporters.
Abubakar advised the Editorial CDS group to always extend invitation to the union to enable adequate coverage of their programmes.
“On behalf of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, Kogi state Chapter, I assure you that we will give you adequate coverage of your activities,” he said.
He stressed the need for a consistent interface to improve relations between the Union and the Group.
