NYCN Kogi East appeals to Gov. Bello, LG Chairmen to have Youth Council Representatives at Security Council 


 

COMMUNIQUE OF THE KOGI EAST NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA ZONAL EXECUTIVE AND STAKEHOLDERS MEETING HELD ON 10TH SEPTEMBER, 2022 AT ANKPA.

The Zonal Meeting of the National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN) Kogi East Chapter held at Ankpa on 10th September, 2022 comprising the Executives of the zone and the Stakeholders.

Top on the agenda was Courtesy Call / Condolence Visit to the Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council and the Onu Ankpa to condole and sympathize with the good people of the area on the recent robbery attack which led to loss of lives and destruction of property. Also, the security situations and crises in Omala and Bassa Local Government Areas were reviewed. Moreso, the Light Up Kogi East Project of the State Government was reviewed. And sundry other matters were deliberated.

During the visit which was led by the Leader of the Zone, Comrade Engr. SB Emmanuel the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu briefed the Council on what really happened and showed optimism that with the high security architecture and network of the local government the perpetrators of the robbery attack would soon be apprehended to pay for disturbing the peace of Ankpa and causing loss of lives and property. Also, the Onu Ankpa, HRH Alhaji Abdulmalik Umar thanked the Council and used the opportunity to call for the establishment of more powerful security / military base in Kogi East which would be able to combat such firepower as displayed in Ankpa during the robbery attack.

RESOLUTIONS

After the visit and deliberations, the Council resolved thus:

1. Prayers should be offered for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and for such deadly incident not to occur in Kogi State again. This was done religiously.

2. The Council once again commended His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello for being on top of every security challenge in the state and resolved to appeal to him to help in the actualization of the call by the royal father, the Onu Ankpa to establish a powerful military base in Kogi East.

3. With the brief received from the Executive Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Council Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu on the state of things in Ankpa and his large-heartedness for the youth constituency, NYCN Kogi East resolved to confer on him an award as KOGI EAST YOUTH AMBASSADOR which presentation shall be done at the Kogi East Peace and Security Summit to be held soon.

4. On the crises in Omala and Bassa Local Government Areas, Council commended all the stakeholders involved in driving for peace and appealed that they should engage more by deploying all means to quell the crises and bring lasting resolutions. The Council also pledged to drive interventions to build peace in the affected areas.

5. NYCN Kogi East also resolved to appeal to His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello and the Local Government Chairmen to have Youth Council Representatives at the Security Council both at the state and local government levels so that they can give and take first-hand information on security management at their various levels.

6. The Council also commended His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello as he goes around inspecting his numerous projects across the state and resolved to use the opportunity to call on him to look back at the much welcomed Light Up Kogi East Project and put final touch to it.

7. The Council resolved to host a strong Kogi East Peace and Security Summit soon to bring stakeholders together to address the challenges of the zone. The committee for the programme was immediately put in place and charged to deliver effectively.
