
NYCN Crisis: Ex. Kogi Chairman, Comr. Ben Jerry Appeals to Tinubu, Minister

Comr. Ben Jerry, the immediate past Kogi State NYCN has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to Intervene in the crisis that is about to befall the National Youth Council of Nigeria, explaining that the NYCN Election Conducted at the weekend in which Comr. Babangida Onimisi Won clean and clear was devoid of ambiguity.
The former Chairman appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call the Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, from showing undue interest in the leadership crisis rocking the council.
In a statement issued to Newsmen in Lokoja, Comr. Jerry expressed deep concern about the crisis in which the Minister is alledged to be showing interest, expressed worries that it is a time bomb if not quickly addressed.
Comr. Jerry who was an aspirant in the election but stepped down for Comr Babangida said the conduct of the NYCN election that produced Comrade Babangida Onimisi Isah as President, was free and fair.
Comr. Jerry urged the President to allow the election that was clearly won by Comr. Babangida to stand lamented why the Minister will go ahead to set up an Interim Management Committee.
Comr. Jerry notes that the setting up of an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to replace the newly elected leadership, is an action that is “unconstitutional and alien to the NYCN constitution.”
He cautioned against any attempt aimed at creating crisis by using the Interim Management Committee, after the suspension of the NYCN Board of Trustees to replace a democratically elected President of Nigerian youths as unfortunate,” the statement said.
