Trade unions in Niger state have been challenged to emulate the Nigeria Union of Teachers in the state, as the Union has been exceptional in accomplishment made from Endwell,micro Finance, the Endwell model science school and a magnificent conference Hall constructed by the NUT that has became a role model in recent times.
The Governor of the State Dr Abubakar Sani Bello who was represented by the Secretary to the state Government SSG, Alhaji Ahmed Matene at the first Graduation ceremony of NUT Endwell Model Science School in Minna,”said the development shows the seriousness of those at the helm of the affairs.
Alhaji Ahmed Matene said that one of the achievement is that Endwell has become a succour to the retiring Teachers if goverment failed to paid them their pension and gratuities.
He stated that government will continue to support the educational sector as some schools in critical area’s have been transformed to model schools and properly equipt with instructional materials.
He then mentioned that the
Governors of the state Dr Abubakar Sani Bello has given the Commissioner of Finance executive order to settle The Nigeria Union of Teachers Endwell monies owed by the government.
He then show concerned that for the past 7- 8 months now the Governor gave directives that monies owed Endwell and Cooperative societies in state be settled and to his suprise they are yet to adhere to the directives of the Mr Governor.
He lamented that somebody must be held responsible for this singular act.
On the request made by RAZEEMA Lead Consultant for construction of a Hostel block and a Coaster Bus to facilitate movement of staff and students.
Alhaji Matene stated that with the development he have seen in the school most especially in the area of insfractructure and students performance academically,he pledges Government would assist the school as requested to serve as a boaster to other schools in the state to excel.
In his welcome address,the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Adamu Mohammed Akayoga said that the purpose of esterblishing the school is to create enabling school where ideal insfractructure professional and qualify Teachers can be given an enabling playing ground to practice their profession.
The Chairman Comrade Akayago Said that the school is been managed by a professional consultants RAZEEMA CONSULT who are supervising,managing and ensuring proper teaching and learning activities in the school.
He said that the ceremony is the first set of Senior Secondary School Students who have acquired both Western education and Skills acquisition of deferent trades.
He then appealed to the state government to release their monthly deduction made from Teachers salaries as subscription for the Endwell.
He said that it has become necessary for the governor to redirect the Ministry of finance or t6 person concerned to release their monies.
He mentioned that all efforts made by the Union to see to the release of the money proved abortive,hence need for Governor’s proper interventions.
In his remarks at the graduation ceremony the National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, Comrade Titus Audu Amba stated that he is happy to be associated and identify with the Teachers in Niger state adding that Teachers in state “despite the challenges of none payment of salaries and salary payment on percentage they continue to give the young ones qualitative education.
He urdge them to continue to hold firm in molding the younger generation to continue giving them qualitative education to enable them excel in their academic pursuit.
He called on the state government to ensure the release of all monies wrongly diverted to the Government account to be Union without delay.
He said that it is time for goverment to rise up to challenges been face by the education sector,as there is misplacement of priority on the part of the Government.
