A Kogi state based news Magazine tagged ‘the Policy and lawmakers has conferred a famous most Pragmatic Advocate of grassroots development award on the national President of Nigeria Union of local government employees [NULGE], Comrade Ambali Olatunji.
At a colourful ceremony held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists ‘NUJ’ Centre in the ancient of Lokoja and Kogi state capital,the Publisher of the tabloid magazine, prince Friday Ogungbemi said comrade Olatunji doggedness in the struggle for the granting of autonomy to seven hundred and seventy four local government councils in the federation caught his pragmatic attention.
According to him, the media outfit with motto “Truth without a stain”put up the event to honour the distinguished national President of Nigeria Union of local government employees Comrade Olatunji for his worthy contribution towards the passage of the local government autonomy bill by States and the national Assemblies
Chief Friday Ogungbemi remarked that his efforts to recognize and commend when it becomes necessary is to appreciate individuals when they make positive impacts on the society informed the ideas in singling comrade Olatunji’s out for the award.
Receiving the award on behalf of the national President, the Kogi state President of the Union, Comrade Tade Adeyemi expressed appreciation to the magazine publisher for directing his professional lens on the efforts made by the leadership of the Union to liberate itself from the shackles of socio-economic crisis bedeviling the local government system when the bill come through.
Comrade Olatunji through the state President of the Union, Comrade Tade Adeyemi tap the Kogi house of Assembly on the back for the quick passage of the local government autonomous bill .
He also asked them to reach out to other state houses of Assemblies to follow suit by passing their local government autonomous bills to enable staff of local government areas across the federation enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Nulge President gave every assurance of the readiness of the leadership of the Union to lead members from the front ,defend their interests and fight for their welfare and dedicated the award to Local government staff in the country.
