The Good Book counsel us that there is, “a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven (here, on earth).” It is in realization of this timeless word of wisdom that I humbly use this medium to express my utmost gratitude to God Almighty for the outpouring of His Grace, Mercy, Love, Presence, and Power upon me, and the good people of Kabba-Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, from 2011 to date.
On the occasion of the end of legislative session of the 9TH Assembly, I am extremely grateful for all the love, understanding, support and more that the good people of Kabba-Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency showered on me these years. Indeed, that you all invested your electoral franchise on me on THREE different and consecutive election circles, not minding my imperfections as a human being, speaks volumes about your believe and trust in my abilities, capacities, and capabilities to be your servant, spokesperson, and representative in the Federal House of Representatives for Three Terms.
Through your consistent believe, and electoral investment in me, I emerged as the very first person to have the special privilege of representing our very dear Constituency Three uninterrupted times. By this feat, I became the first to enjoy this rare electoral benefit in the entire Okun Land. Also, through your benevolence and thoughtful hearts, I emerged as one of the very few Nigerians who have had the opportunity of been in the House of Representatives for Three (unbroken) Terms.
For these and more, I am most grateful to you all. From the depth of my heart, I express my sincere appreciation to Elders, Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Spiritual Leaders, Men, Women, Youths, Students, and the entire good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency for all your support, prayers, counsel, criticisms and understanding. No doubt, the outpouring of your love, passion, and commitment to my unflinching desire, unalloyed resoluteness, and unapologetic wishes for the general well being and development of our federal constituency impacted hugely and positively to the achievements recorded over the years.
By the Grace of God from June 2011 to June 2023, I was able to record some achievements, and cover reasonable mileage in terms of deliverables. To the Glory of His Name, your persistent payers, and the support of progressive like-minded people from and outside our federal constituency, during these period, I was able to impact positively in ALL the Wards and many towns, and communities that make up Kabba-Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency. More importantly, through your support and prayers, I was able to change the narrative (amongst elective leaders) that things are not possible. Through doggedness, passion and fervour, I ensured that it was possible for elected persons to attract projects, initiatives and programmes to Constituencies and Districts. Happily, after positively reordering and changing the past trend, one is pleased that some elected officials, across party lines, are doing their best in attracting projects, programmes, and initiatives to their respective constituencies and districts.
Between June 2011 and June 2023, through different and various programmes, projects, initiatives and interventions in education, health, agriculture, water, power, employment generation, roads and others, one was able to touch lives and impact positively on constituents. Indeed, these milestones will not have been possible without the prayers, counsel and understanding of the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency. I appreciate you all.
As the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives takes off on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, which will signal the Inauguration of my very dear brother, friend, associate and confidant; HON. IDRIS SALMAN, as the Representative of our dear Federal Constituency, I make a passionate plea that we all should render our total, genuine, and sincere love, prayers and support for him. At every point, in all situations, we should offer him our undiluted support and unrestrained commitment for him to record tremendous success and achievements during his tenure. Having known him for sometime, and given his passion and commitment to the well being of our people, I am confident that he will meet, and surpass the expectations of all our constituents.
I want to also use the opportunity to seek for forgiveness from whoever may feel slighted or wronged, through actions, decisions, and deeds taken during my tour of duty. To such people, as I plead for forgiveness, let me state that such errors, frailties and misnomers were not as a result of lack of respect for their persons or positions, but may have been committed due to my firm resolve to further the position of our communities and all constituents.
Finally, as always, I rededicate myself to the economic growth, political advancement, and infrastructural development of our dear federal constituency. As I look forward to our continued collaboration where and when necessary, I pray that our dear federal constituency shall experience more growth and more development in the name of God Almighty, Amen.
