
Nigerian Post Kogi @ 34: Sen. Karimi To Emerge Legislator of Distinction.

… Award Holds August 19, 2025 @ NUT Teacher’s Guest House Conference Hall Lokoja.
Sen. Sunday Karimi, Representing Kogi West Senatorial District will on the 19th August, 2025, bag the Legislator of Distinction Award, at this year’s The Nigerian Post Newspaper, Kogi @ 34 Public Lecture and awards program.
The award by the Nigerian Post is geared towards appreciating the contribution of Senior legislators who have made significant contributions to the National Assembly and their constituents.
Sen. Karimi has been outstanding in legislative Leadership, with the award set to recognize his exceptional leadership and contributions to the legislative process, unprecented impact to Kogi West Senatorial District since 1999.
Sen. Karimi has remained a legislator who have demonstrated dedication, integrity, and commitment to public service.
The Nigerian Post Newspaper public Lecture & Gold Prize Award, is usually organize to celebrate the anniversary of the State creation.
The theme for this year’s public lecture and awards is: “Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity, Economic transformation”.
Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, Kogi State Executive Governor and his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello are expected as Special Guest of Honours at this year’s annual public Lecture & Gold Prize Award.
This years event is scheduled to take place at the Teachers House, opposite Radio Kogi, Lokoja, August 19, 2025 at 10:00am.
Also, the Minister for Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu Abubakar alongside other very important personalities within and outside Kogi State will also serve as Special Guests at the event.
The 2025 public lecture will be delivered by Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, former Minister of State, Labour and Employment.
His Royal Majesty, the Ohimegye Igu Kingdom, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu would serve as the Royal father of the day.
Speakers at the event will also include; Prof. Marietu Tenuche, Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar University, Anyigba and Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, VC Federal University Lokoja.
The 2025 The Nigerian Post Newspaper Lecture is to be chaired and Co Chaired by Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja with Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji.
According to a statement by the Publisher of THE NIGERIAN POST, Mr. Abu Micheal, said as is usual with the event, some distinguished personalities who have contributed to the development of the State including Sen. Karimi will be honoured.
The 2025 edition of the public lecture, “aims to celebrate and critically examine the creation of Kogi State 34 years after, by discussing its Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity in a democracy, the Kogi State example.
“Our 2025 Awardees are persons who made the critical differences in the discharge of their duties, with uncommon zeal and commitment to the common good of the citizens and the State in particular,” the statement read.
