NIGER STATE TO PARTNER NIWA ON WATERWAYS TRANSPORTATION.

The Niger state government has concluded arrangements to move PB Port Harcourt Fiber safety and surveillance Boat,which have been laying in the Ministry of transport for years to it operational area in Borgu Local Government of the state.

This was disclosed in an interview with the permanent secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Yunusa M Nahauni in Minna.

He mentioned that the Boat which was donated to the state government by the National inland Waterway Authority NIWA, Headquarters for surveillance and rescue of riverine areas and rescue of the victims of boat mishaps is to depart to it operational area next week he said.

He Permanent Secretary Alhaji Yunusa stated that the boat is equipt with gadgets that would monitor and regulates over load commercial boats in the area to avoid boat accident and to monitor inflow of illegal migrants from neibouring countries like,Chad and Benin republic.

He said that the Boat is to patrol from malele to loko menne,shagunu to Dunga,kokoli to Garaffini  in Niger and kebbi state boundaries.

Alhaji Yunusa Nahauni said the importance of Boat include monitoring Bandits as it is sophiscated in nature ,adding that highly trained Marine personnel and Police shall be attached to it to patrol the water ways in the area of it operation.

He stated that his Ministry would continue to partner with the National inland Waterways Authority NIWA in the state to improve on the State Waterways transportat services.

He then called on the Area maneger to approach his ministry on areas he wants synergy.
