Niger state has secured N1.6 million dollars grant for the Covid 19 Action Recovery and Stimulus Programme to help communities affected by the fallouts of the disease to recover economically and socially.
This was disclosed by the General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency Ahmed Yusuf Usman during a workshop for the Community Project Management Committees (CPMC) and Group Project Management Committees (GPMC) at Idris Legbo Kutigi conference room.
The GM said the programme was a multi sectoral approach to help communities whose basic amenities and social life has been affected by the effects of Covid 19.
He said the workshop was to appraise earlier interventions and look at needs presented by the community groups as part of requirements for the disbursement of funds.
He said Covid 19 pandamic has affected small and medium enterprises, social infrastructure and businesses in communities and have left many unable to pick up from their looses arising from lockdowns and economic stagnation.
He said already N72.634m will be disbursed to various committees and groups to recover education, water and health immediately after the workshop.
He further disclosed that earlier N60m has been disbursed to various committees in the state.
Alh Yusuf Ahmed said Wushishi, Kontagora, Edati, Paikoro, Chanchaga have benefitted from the intervention. He urged the committees to utilize the money so that to achieve maximum benefits.
