Next Kogi Governorship: Power Belongs To God, He Gives To Who So Ever He Wishes – Prince Mathew Kolawole.
The immediate past Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole says power belongs to God and he gives it to whosoever he pleases.
The former Speaker made the disclosure while reacting to attacks and criticism following the remarks he made at the official flag off of the campaign of the APC Ahead the October 19th Local Government Election in the State stating that with the way Gov. Usman Ododo has led the people in just eight months and if sustained can earn him a seamless second term.
Recalled that the former speaker had opined during his remarks at the event that the leadership style of Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo since his assumption of office is one that if sustained can earn him a second term, but lamented that his opinion has been greeted by criticism by politically mischievous people who alledged that he was quick to early submission.
Reacting to the attacks, Prince Kolawole noted that his opinion was derived from the fact that every Governor with Gov. Ododo not an exception has a right to another term if he justifies his initial term, said only God gives power, pointing out that that does not exclude others to however aspire.
He described himself as a major proponent of an Okun and Kogi West Governor, however said while that desire remains strong and burning, it doesn’t deny the call for support for the present administration while also not allowing narrow sentiments take away the Governor’s constitutional rights to a second term if he so desire and if justified with performance and acceptability.
Prince Kolawole said what is most needed by the people of Kogi State is development, pointing out that it can only be achieved if all and sundry join hands with Gov Ododo in building a virile Kogi State.
Prince Kolawole said the last eight months of the administration of Gov. Ododo has been impactful, one that has brought calm and peaceful coexistence between the people, expressed appreciation that civil servants and Pensioners are better off in the present administration.
He equally commended the present administration for infrastructure development across the State, particularly expressed appreciation with the ongoing road construction in Kogi West Senatorial District.
While he urged for unity of purpose amongst the people of Kogi West ahead 2027, he sued that it is only a united efforts, one that is strategic and not borne out of personal reasons that can collectively position the area for their desired ambition.
Prince Kolawole commended the present administration for building on the legacies of former Gov. Yahaya Bello, described his loyalty to the former Governor as total as he said he has further transferred the same loyalty and support to the administration of Gov Ododo.
