Negligence of Duty: Report to Commission or Face Sanction, Ebonyi LGSC Boss Orders Ominyi, Ozibo DC Principal Officers

The Chairman Local Government Service Commission in Ebonyi State Chief Romanus Nwasum has ordered the principal officers of Ominyi and Ozibo Development centres respectively to report to the Commission and explain the reasons why they absented themselves from their official duties or the Commission would be forced to sanction them.
The chairman gave the directive when he led Commissioners of the Commission on routine monitoring to Ominyi development centre in Izzi LGA and Ozibo development Centre as well as Mbeke and Ebonyi Development centres in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the State.
Chief Nwasum along side his team visited Ominyi Development Center around 11:28am and the center was locked with heavy padlock while three staff were seen at the premises of the Secretrait.
Whereas at Ozibo Development Center, where they team visited around 2:47pm, the center was under lock and key and there was no single staff on ground.
Speaking shortly at Ominyi and Ozibo Development Centres, the Commission’s Chairman expressed displeasure on the ugly attitude of workers in the Centres, saying that the Commission under his watch can’t tolerate such abnormalities.
At Ominyi DC, this is very unfortunate that non of the principal officers come to work, it means that they don’t come to work, all the principal officers should report to the Commission tomorrow and explain why they were absent from duty”
“At Ozibo Development Centre nobody attend to work today. Nobody is in this DC, non of the principal officers is around which by implication they don’t come to work yet at the end of the month they received alert”
“On behalf of the Commission I hereby directed all the principal officers to report to the Commission tomorrow”
The Chairman who noted that the workers must be attending to work by 8am and dismiss by 4pm, maintained that the era workers would be at home and be receiving their salaries at the end of the month has gone.
He stressed the need for workers across the State to justify the salaries they are collecting from the State Government by going to work regularly in order to achieve the efforts of Governor Nwifuru in restoring the lost glory of Local Government system in the State.
At Ebonyi DC where they team met only three Principal officers out of 81 staff and Mbeke Development Center where they visited and saw few workers on ground, Chief Nwasum frowned at it and charged them to step up to their official duties, warning that any staff who is not present in their next visit would be sanctioned accordingly to serve as deterrent to others.
Specifically at Ebonyi DC “Something is fundamentally wrong here, how can it be possible for three of you to be in the office and the seventy eight others will be absent. In our next visit unscheduled if we meet it like this we will review you people’s appointment. I don’t know why three of you will be here without other staff” he concluded
The Commissioner one of the Commission Architect Augustine Nwechara and Commissioner 2 Hon. Monday Nwigbo charged the workers of Development Centers visited to rise to their responsibilities to achieve the objectives in which the centres were created, emphasizing that the era workers stayed at home and receive salaries without working for it is all over.
The Admin officer in Mbeke DC Mr Otozi Patrick on behalf of the staff commended the Commission for the visit and promised that they would redoubled their efforts by attending to work regularly.
Also present during the monitoring were the Commissioner 4 of the commission Hon. Ikechukwu Ogbu, head of personnel management Prince Patrick Akputa and the PRO Mr Icha Moses Eze.
