N-HYPPADEC Distributes 50 Tiller Machines to Boost Agriculture in Kogi State

The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has distributed 50, 13 Horse Power Tiller machines to farmers in Kogi State, aiming to enhance food security and agricultural productivity.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony, N-HYPPADEC Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa FCNA, FNIIS, represented by Dr. Jimoh Haruna Gabi, Director Administration and Finance, N-HYPPADEC, stated that the initiative is part of the Commission’s efforts to promote mechanized farming and reduce manual labor in agriculture.

He lauded President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his commitment to addressing food insecurity and emphasized the importance of agriculture in the nation’s economic growth.

“A hungry man is an angry man, reason why N-HYPPADEC is giving every policy on agriculture the deserved attention in boosting agriculture,” Yelwa said.

“Agriculture adds significant increase to the nation’s GDP, reason why N-HYPPADEC is creating an enabling environment, towards boosting employment, and fighting poverty.”

Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, praised N-HYPPADEC’s initiative, saying it would significantly impact the state’s agricultural sector.

He urged farmers to utilize the machines to boost productivity and contribute to the state’s economic development.

The Commissioner described the distribution as the fourth in a series of agricultural empowerment initiatives carried out since the beginning of 2026 in the state.

He disclosed further that over 30,000 units of fertilizers were distributed to farmers in Kogi State, and the State Government has also provided various farm inputs, agricultural machinery, and farm tools.

Hon. Ojomah commended Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa for his visionary leadership and Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCE, for his tireless support and commitment to the development of Kogi State.

N-HYPPADEC’s Kogi State Coordinator, Dr. Michael Omeiza Ajayi, said the initiative aims to improve the agriculture sector and enable good yields all year round. He called for proper usage of the machines and regular monitoring by the Commission.

Dr. Bello Ogrima, MD Agricultural Development Project, described the project as well-intended and aligns with federal and State agriculture policies aimed at achieving food sufficiency and security.
