Musa Nasidi Masjid Foundation Supports Orphans with Cash, Food, Clothing Ahead of Sallah
The Musa Nasidi Masjid Foundation on Sunday distributed cash, food items and textile materials to orphans to enable them celebrate the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) festivities.
The philanthropic gesture, which took place at the Musa Nasidi Mosque in Hangwan-Kura, Lokoja, attracted Islamic scholars, community leaders and other dignitaries who gathered to witness the humanitarian outreach.
In his opening remarks, Alhaji Musa Nasidi, Founder and Chairman of the Musa Nasidi Masjid Foundation, explained that the outreach is the sixth edition of the annual programme organised to support orphans and vulnerable children in the community ahead of the Sallah celebration.
He said the initiative was conceived to ensure that orphans and the less privileged are not left out during festive seasons, noting that Sallah is a period of joy, sharing and compassion.
According to him, the foundation remains committed to improving the welfare of vulnerable members of society, particularly children who have lost their parents.
Alhaji Nasidi further explained that beyond the Sallah support programme, the foundation has continued to provide assistance to needy families and support community development initiatives whenever the need arises.
He noted that the foundation’s activities are inspired by Islamic teachings which encourage believers to show kindness and extend support to the less privileged in society.
Alhaji Nasidi also appreciated the Maigari of Lokoja, community leaders and other dignitaries who attended the programme, noting that their presence demonstrated strong support for humanitarian initiatives in the community.
In his remarks, the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, was represented by the Tafake of Lokoja, Engr. Sagir Abdulsalam, who commended the foundation for the humanitarian gesture and described the initiative as a noble effort that deserves recognition.
He urged other wealthy individuals, organisations and philanthropists to emulate the foundation by supporting programmes that uplift the lives of orphans and other vulnerable groups.
The traditional ruler’s representative also emphasised the importance of unity, compassion and community support, especially during festive periods.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Ramat Nasidi expressed deep appreciation to the foundation for the kind gesture, noting that the support would enable many orphans to celebrate the Sallah with happiness and dignity.
She prayed for Allah’s blessings, protection and continued prosperity for the founder and members of the foundation for remembering the less privileged.
Some of the beneficiaries, who received cash, bags of food items and textile materials, were visibly excited and offered prayers for the organisers of the programme.
A highlight of the occasion was an Islamic lecture delivered by Sheikh Nayashi, who emphasised the importance of charity, compassion and caring for orphans in society.
In his closing remarks, the Hakimi of Ward ‘D’, Alhaji Isah Ahmed Nasidi, thanked all the dignitaries who came to grace the occasion and appreciated them for their support and presence at the event.
The event concluded with special prayers for peace, unity and continued development in Lokoja and Kogi State.
