Today,12th November, 2020, at the international conference centre (ICC), Abuja, Kogi state Commissioner of Finance, budget and Economic planning; Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA bagged a meritorious award as the Financial expert of the year under the auspices of the National peace awards.
According to the organisers of the event, “Asiwaju’s nomination and subsequent choice as the award recipient was purely meritorious, predicated upon his giant strides recorded as the Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic planning, also as an advocate of peace and peaceful coexistence in the society. He has indeed distinguished himself as a seasoned financial expert with empirical results in kogi state and an ambassador of peace.
Reeling out some of his scorecards, the organisers said as the Co-chair of the state Economic team and also the Finance commissioner, he has attracted diverse financial aid, both local and foreign funded, Improved IGR, engendered strategic Economic reforms and improve in the fiscal responsibility of the state via blocking of leakages and Sustainable utilization of resources. Recently, the state was recently adjudged the best in fiscal transparency assesment under the states fiscal transparency, accountability and sustainability (SFTAS) programme.
On the other hand, he has demostrated peaceful disposition in his conduct as an esteem public office holder and messenger of peace within the the dynamic society and constituents. Obviously, the Honourable commissioner meritorously passed all requirements to be awarded the National peace awards as the Financial expert of the year.
In his short response, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA appreciates the organisers, especially the convener; Mr Sulieman Adejoh for finding him worthy to be so nominated and awarded as the Financial expert of the year. I am most humbled by these prestigious conferment. I assure you, this award will further spur me to continually advocate for a peaceful world and also make a progressive mark in the financial field.
He further spoke that peace is a necessary factor that guarantees unity and development of any society. He spoke about how his leader and boss, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello is breaking walls of tribalism, religious acrimony and class differences to make sure peace prevails in the land which in turn produce development booms.
