MNR Welcomes Peter Obi To Kogi, Urges Massive Turnout In Lokoja

The Movement for National Renewal, MNR, Kogi State Chapter, has announced a rousing welcome for the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr. Peter Obi, ahead of his interactive engagement with the people of the state.

In a press statement issued in Lokoja on Sunday, October 26, 2026, and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Along, the group described Obi’s visit to Kogi State, the Confluence of Opportunities, as more than a political itinerary.

According to the MNR, the visit is a profound democratic statement, noting that Obi’s decision to directly dialogue with community leaders, market women, youth groups, farmers and professional bodies affirms his conviction that the people remain the true soul and centrepiece of governance.

The group said Obi’s consistent practice of going to the people, listening to the people and standing with the people has redefined political leadership in Nigeria and rekindled hope, adding that his brand of politics anchored on competence, character, compassion and capacity resonates deeply with the aspirations of Kogites.

The MNR therefore called on the people of Kogi State to come out en masse on Monday to the streets of Lokoja to give the former Anambra Governor a rousing welcome.

“To the resilient and enterprising people of Kogi State, who have long yearned for a leadership that embodies transparency, accountability, rule of law and people-centered development, we make a clarion call: This is your invitation to come out tomorrow, to the streets of Lokoja, in our numbers, to give a rousing welcome to a leader whose time has come,” the statement said.

The group declared that a new Nigeria is possible and urged Kogites to get involved, adding, “Nyase! Wolaule! Ekabo! Welcome to Kogi – the Face of A Renewed Nigeria.”
