Missing of manhood: Okada riders begin strike in Kogi.


 

The Commercial Motorcycle riders, popularly called Okada, in Lokoja on Thursday embarked on strike over what they described as alleged missing of manhood by mischievous passengers at the State capital.

 

The state Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Mallam Umar Muhammed who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen said they have decided to embark on the strike due to allegations leveled against them by passengers.

According to him several Okada commercial riders have been attacked innocently by passengers who are unable to pay for their fare only for to turn around to accuse Okada riders of missing manhood.

He said that passenger carried by their Okada riders were been labeled of taken away their manhood we ever they got to there destination leading to beating of Okada riders.

” Some of the passenger when they don’t have money to pay, they raise alarm that their manhood is missing so that they will not pay and instead of them to take the issue to the police they take laws into there hand and beat up the Okada commercial rider, only for the people to say that there manhood has returned back to his body”.

He therefore called on the security agents and the state government to look into the issue to avoid any problem that could lead to civil unrest in the state.

Mainwhile, the Kogi State Police Command has warned the general public not to take laws into there hands.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP William Ayah warned the general public not to take laws into there hands and stop giving out false alarm and anybody caught disturbing the public peace will be prosecuted.

The statement said the Kogi State Police Commissioner CP Bethrand Onuoha, calls on the residents of Lokoja and its environs to desist from peddling fake and false information on the disappearance of Male Organs that is currently trending in Lokoja.

He further stated that, some of the allegations have been investigated by the Police and Medical examination were equally carried which turned out to be false.

He noted that the false information is the sole aim of inciting public disturbance, creating fear and disrupting the peaceful environment the State is currently enjoying.

“The Police is planning sterner measures to curtain false report in the State. As anyone caught giving false information will be prosecuted according to the law”.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police sternly warn members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands by carrying out jungle justice, noting that, the Command have deployed its Security assets to detect individuals behind peddling rumour that has so far led to the attacks on innocent citizens. Therefore anybody caught taking laws into his hand will be prosecuted according to the law.

He therefore enjoined the good people of Kogi State to remain security conscious and report anything that looks suspicious in their areas to the Police.
