MEMUNAT SINGLE MOTHERS AND CHILD INITIATIVE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR COMMENDS NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHT COMMISSION FOR PARTNERING CSOs
The Executive Director/ Chief Executive Officer Of Medinat Single Mothers and Child Initiative, Medinat Ladi Idu-Lah has Commended the Nigeria’s National Human Right Commission, (NHRC) for it Collaboration with the Civic Society Organizations, (CSOs) Non Governmental Organizations,(NGOs) and other relevant Governments Agencies towards ensuring the protection of the rights of Nigerians.
Memunat Idu-Lah pointed out that, the Commission’s Collaboration with the Civic Society Organizations and Non-governmental Organizations has helped to intensify advocacy and awareness amongst Nigerians about their rights, and it has also helped to reduce abuse and Violation of the rights of the masses particularly the poor.
The Executive Director/CEO disclosed this to the Press at a Forum between the the National Human Right Commission and the Civil Society, with a Theme: “Human Rights, Yesterday, Today and Future”,held, Thursday November 7, 2023 at the National Human Right Commission Auditorium, Maitama Abuja, a forum which was Organised to appraise and evaluates the Progress recorded by the Commission, who’s mandate was to ensure the Protection of the rights of Nigerians Citizens, and to also see how they Could Strengthened their Collaborations.
According to her, the Mamunat Single Mothers and Child Initiative, was established about Eleven Months ago, and was Incorporated with the Cooperates Affairs Commission, CAC With the aim among Others to give Voice to Single Mothers in the Country, and to also protects their rights and Stop Societal Stigmatization.
She further pointed out that,our Contemporary Society today is such a Society that Single Mothers were being Portrayed as prostitute, Inresponsible individuals all manners of derogatory names were attached to them and Sometimes their rights been Violated due to the fact that, they don’t have in most cases persons to defend their rights, their Vulnerability has exposed them to Various kind of abuses, she said.
She further Stressed that the Madinat Single Mothers and Child Initiative, was Committed to ensure that the rights of Single Mothers are Protected, their Voice been heard, empathized and most importantly, been Catered for and be treated as other individuals in the Society.
The Executive Director/CEO further Called on Governments to always Carry every Nigerians along by given all and Sundry a Sense of belonging in all their Programs and Policies, so as to avoid breeding dissident groups amongst the masses, even as She Observed that most of the Crises and upheavals the Nation had witnessed was as a result of prolonged Neglect and perceived injustice.
