“On this occasion of the International Workers’ Day, I celebrate Kogi work force – both local government and state workers; and hail their patriotism and resilience in the face of tough challenges.”
The Candidate of the African Democractic Congress, Hon. Leke Abejide has urged Kogi workers to remain strong and keep hope alive, despite the prevailing situation that has seen many of them lose their jobs or have their pay check eroded amid rising cost of living.
Hon. Abejide in a statement on Monday on the sideline of 2023 Workers Day said the past couples of years have been particularly challenging for Kogi workers expecially those at the local government level due to the downsize that affected many of them and the meager percentage salaries.
Leke said the attendant loss of job and percentage payment has reduced their spending capacity and lowered their socio -economic standard.
He however said their is hope on the horizon.
“On this occasion of the International Workers’ Day, I celebrate workers across the country expecially the Kogi State workforce. I hail your patriotism and resilience in the face of tough challenges resulting from the job retrenchment and percentage salaries.
“I urged you not to be disenchanted by the seemingly- challenging situation across the 21 council areas, as better days are definitely ahead,when I become Governor of Kogi State I will look into those unjustly screened out and return back to their jobs” he said.
He called on organised labour to remained patriotic to their duties and the state, promising that the next governorship election will liberate the state from the hands of the new ‘feudal Lords”.
