Make APC nomination form free for PLWD – Ex. Sec. Office of Disability, Kogi State.


 

An appeal has gone to the All Progressive Congress to make nomination form free for persons living with disabilities in the country wishing to contest the 2023 general election on the platform of the party.

 

 

The Executive Secretary, Kogi State Office of the Disability, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael made the appeal in a chat with newsmen, praised the National Executive Committee of the Party for making the forms free for women wishing to contest.

He described PLWD as more vulnerable in the society, said one way to integrate them into the society is to make the nomination forms free for them.

He said about 25million persons in the country have one form of disability or the other, said one key area of the law signed by President Mohammadu Buhari as regarding the PLWD law was inclusiveness.

He described PLWD as a segment of the society that have been neglected for too long, said it would be difficult for them to purchase the party’s nomination forms in view of their vulnerability and financial handicap.

He wondered where such people will get the money to purchase the forms, said even though many of them are graduates and intelligent, raising the money will be a challenge, urged that the forms be made available for them to contest in what ever capacity they may want to, pointing out that through that way they can be integrated into the society.

The Executive Secretary described PLWD as majority voters during elections, said it would encourage them to participate actively in political process.
