By joshua Lokoja Youth Group Seeks Redeployment of NIWA GM Over Alleged Marginalisation

The Lokoja Youth Association (LYA) has demanded the immediate redeployment of the General Manager, Administration, of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Dabai, over what it described as the persistent marginalisation of Lokoja indigenes in the agency’s recruitment processes.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Chairman, Comrade Buhari Lakwaja, the youth group accused the NIWA administrative head of supervising employment exercises that allegedly shut out qualified natives of Lokoja, despite the agency’s headquarters being situated in the state capital.
According to Lakwaja, the association has repeatedly observed what it termed the “systematic exclusion” of Lokoja sons and daughters from job opportunities since Dabai took over as GM Administration.
“Mr. Dabai, as GM Admin, has since he assumed office contributed to the repeated exclusion of Lokoja indigenes from NIWA, especially in matters relating to employment,” the statement alleged.
The group argued that equity and fairness demand that Lokoja people, as hosts to the national agency, should not be relegated or denied opportunities available within NIWA. It insisted that administrative decisions, especially recruitment, must reflect transparency, justice, and inclusiveness.
Calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene, the association urged the Federal Government to redeploy the NIWA official in order to restore balance and rebuild trust between the agency and its host community.
