Lokoja LGA – One Year of “Transformational Leadership” Fuels Comr. Abdullahi Adamu’s Endorsement for Another Term.

Yesterday, key APC stakeholders in Lokoja gathered and endorsed Comr. Abdullahi Adamu, for a second term, citing his first year of “transformational leadership”, as rewarding and eventful.
The endorsement for Comr. Adamu also robbed off on the Vice Chairperson and all the Councillors, could not have come at a better time than now when leaders like Comr. Adamu are scarce and hard to come by.
The endorsement comes barely a year after he assumed office on 9 January 2024, a tenure marked by swift action on security, infrastructure, and revenue growth.
What has been driving the “staying power” narrative in Lokoja LGA is amongst other factors, Security. While insecurity aside being a global concern for which Nigeria is part of. In Lokoja, Comr. Adamu’s magic wands has made the difference.
Within weeks of assumption as Chairman, Adamu launched a 60‑man joint security operation in Felele and Sarkin Noma, leading to multiple arrests and a drop in kidnappings and armed robbery.
He also brokered peace between Fulani herders and Kupa/Atsawa communities, preventing communal clashes.
Until his coming on board, there was the dearth of basic services at the Council Secretariat.
It is to the credit of Comr. Adamu, as he has not only fixed a broken transformer at the secretariat, ending months of blackout and boosting staff morale, other items and tools needed to increase productivity has been put in place by the Chairman.
Comr. Adamu set up a think‑tank to develop the Ojo Oba market (Felele) via a public‑private partnership, aiming to lift IGR and spur economic activities for the Local Government.
Comr. Adamu’s stakeholder engagements through meetings with multinationals (Dangote, Unicane) opened doors for CSR, job creation, and improved security collaboration with hunters, vigilantes, and traditional rulers.
Before the endorsement of Comr. Adamu for another term, a vote of confidence In April 2025 by the legislative council, passed a confidence on the Chairman, highlighted his transparency, teamwork with staff, and support to security agencies.
The coming together of the Lokoja LGA stakeholders for continuity has not come as a surprise, as Comr. Adamu has remained consistent in delivering the gains of democracy for his people.
Comr. Adamu’s “hit‑the‑ground‑running” approach is repeatedly referenced as he has made
Youth and community his major focus.
Constantly and always advocating for youth employment, empowerment of women, and his partnership with schools and health centres seems to have aligned with the populace’s demands for inclusive governance practiced by Comr. Adamu.
Nothing good comes without challenges.
While the endorsements of Comr. Adamu signal’s confidence, observers note the need to sustain IGR growth, expand infrastructure (roads, health, water), and keep security gains durable.
Comr. Adamu has always at several forum, stress “accountability, transparency, and community participation,” suggesting he’s aware of the pressure to translate endorsement into measurable outcomes.
It is without gainsaying the fact that, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu’s first year shows a pattern of quick wins, stakeholder outreach, and visible security improvements, major key factors giving his tenure the “staying power” needed for a second term.
Infrastructure and Utilities wise, the Comrade Chairman completed work on the Council’s Lock up shops on Kewon Road and Oworo Estate Road (Felele), an initiative geared towards boosting trade. There is equally the upgrade of five Primary Health Care facilities that has been completed.
Aside off setting inherited debts owed by the council before he became Chairman, Comr. Adamu’s social and Community development impact remains second to none.
In conclusion, Lokoja APC stakeholders are unanimous that if in just one year, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu could achieve so much amidst scarce resources, tackling security challenges, restoration of basic utilities, reinvigorating economic projects, a feat considered as unprecedented, is what has earned the Chairman commendation from both the APC and members of the public, it is only wise that he be allowed to do more with another term.
