Lack Of Access To Grant Is Bane Of Trado- Medical Practice In Nigeria, Says Mojeaga

The Managing Director of Mojeaga International Ventures ltd, Mr. Monday Ojeaga Alugeh, yesterday, called on the federal government to make grants available to trado-medical practitioners to carry out research and complement the medical profession, describing lack of grants as their bane.
He made the call at press conference/awards ceremony in Benin city.
Mr. Alugeh said there are a lot to be done in the trado-medical sector as there are people willing to spend their time to carry out researches on herbal medicine that can take care of some major ailments but they have been hampered by lack of funds.
“The traditional herbal medicine is good because it is what God has given us but the challenges are that most of them are not certified and the cost of research is very high but we in Mojeaga, you can see from the record what they have done so far, spent all the resources we have to bring out this product to ensure that it is safe and efficacious.
“So, research is very important. If the federal government can set up a department that will help and make the research into traditional medicines to be less expensive, it will help a lot because we know what we have gone through. So, that is one of the challenges. And again, the process of making research, the money you spent and there is no grants for we who are really working hard. So even up to this moment, we have not even gotten any loan from the banks.
“So, if the government can do something to see that herbal medicine producers are assisted, we will be very glad”, Alugeh said.
Alugeh, while speaking on his herbal product, Mojeaga Herbal Remedy, a product that is sourced and produced in Edo State, he said he is happy that they are readily available in many health shops nationwide.
He said the Mojeaga Herbal Tea and Mojeaga Herbal Capsule are undergoing registration with NAFDAC to adding that the Mojeaga International Ventures Ltd is contributing to the economic growth of the nation, through direct and indirect job creation.
He said the product which was registered by NAFDAC in 2011, has been thoroughly researched on by renowned professors and medical scholars who have also given their verdicts and recommendations for its usage for patients suffering from anaemia.
He said that they have carried out clinical trials to confirm the safety and efficacy of Mojeaga on pregnant woman adding that these studies were successful and have been published in a reputable health journal.
