Kwara NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel Reaffirms Confidence in Leadership
Journalists in the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State chapter, have passed a vote of confidence in their leadership, headed by Abdulhakeem Garba of Channels TV.
The motion was proposed by Nicholas Uwerunonye of Daily Independent and seconded by Oluseyi Dasilva of Arise TV during an emergency congress on Tuesday.
The vote of confidence comes in recognition of the chapel’s leadership, particularly for its steadfastness in improving the welfare of members and defending their rights, especially before, during, and after the recent state council election.
In his remarks, Uwerunonye commended the executive’s leadership over the past five years, highlighting various welfare programs that have positively impacted members’ lives.
He urged other NUJ bodies at both state and national levels to prioritize members’ interests and avoid unnecessary conflicts.
He also prayed for continued divine guidance for the chapel’s leadership and encouraged members to maintain their support.
Echoing these sentiments, Dasilva praised the executive team for their exceptional service, noting that their efforts have set a high standard for others to follow.
In response, Chapel Chairman Abdulhakeem Garba, initially taken aback by the motion, expressed gratitude to the members for their trust and called for continued unity and support within the chapel.
