KW-TAKREP Dismisses ‘No Confidence’ Claim Against Karimi, Alleges Political Mischief
The Kogi West for Tinubu and Karimi Reelection Project (KW, TAKREP) has dismissed a purported vote of no confidence allegedly passed by some ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area against Sunday Karimi, describing the development as a politically motivated attempt to undermine the senator’s growing popularity in Kogi West.
In a statement made available to journalists, the group said the communiqué circulating in the media was the handiwork of “desperate political merchants” who feel threatened by the massive grassroots support Senator Karimi has attracted across the senatorial district.
According to the group, the claim that the senator is working against the party is baseless and does not reflect the true mood of party members and constituents across the district.
KW, TAKREP maintained that the senator continues to enjoy strong public support in the various local government areas that make up the district, including Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopamuro, Lokoja, Koto Karfe and Kogi Local Government Areas.
The group further alleged that the communiqué was sponsored by faceless political actors who are uncomfortable with the rising political profile of the senator and the momentum of endorsement he continues to receive from party faithful and constituents.
It described as “laughable and unfounded” the allegation that Senator Karimi was sponsoring shadowy groups to attack party leadership, insisting that the lawmaker has remained one of the most consistent advocates of unity within the party and fairness in the political structure of Kogi State.
The organisation added that those behind the statement were attempting to divert attention from what it described as the “visible performance, courageous advocacy and growing political acceptance” of the senator across Kogi West.
KW, TAKREP therefore urged members of the public and the All Progressives Congress to disregard the communiqué, insisting that it does not represent the position of the majority of party members in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area or the wider Kogi West Senatorial District.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising grassroots support for Senator Karimi, noting that no amount of political propaganda would derail the resolve of the people of Kogi West to support credible leadership and responsible representation.
