The Challenged Parenthood Initiatives, CPI, has lamented the inability of the Kogi State House of Assembly to prepare a clean copy of the recently passed Violence Against Prohibition Person Bill to be submitted to the Governor for assent.
Eunice Agbogun, Executive Director, CPI, made the disclosure in a statement appealing to the Kogi State House of Assembly, to produce a clean copy of the passed bill.
The Executive Director lamented that 90 days after the passage of the VAPP bill the Kogi State House of Assembly is yet to make a clean copy of the bill available, for the Governor’s assent.
In a statement copied the Nigerianpost, which read thus: ” I will like to draw the attention of the esteemed public that it will be 90 days in this month of JUNE since the VAPP BILL was passed into law by the Kogi State House of Assembly precisely on 21st March, 2021.
And up till now the house of Assembly have not prepared a clean copy to be submitted to the Governor for assent.
We are worried over the action of the Kogi State House of Assembly as daily in Kogi State we are faced with cases of Gender Bades Violence.
We need the VAPP BILL to be assented into law and gazetted by His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi State as soon as possible without wasting further time, so that the law can begin to take effect.
We’re optimistic that the law would stem the tide of violence against women when assented to by the Governor”
