KSCOE (T) MOPA GETS FIRST FEMALE DEPUTY PROVOST

 

History was made at the 91st Academic Board meeting of the Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, where the appointment of Mrs. Are Falilat Tinuola was announced and overwhelmingly ratified, paving the way for her to emerge as the first female to occupy the office of the Deputy Provost since the inception of the College.

 

The Provost, Dr. M.K. Ibrahim, while congratulating the new Acting Deputy Provost, described her as well-experienced, diligent, and an accomplished academic. He noted that her appointment is a further testimony to the College’s efforts at ensuring gender diversity, in line with the ideals of the Advanced New Direction Policy of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

 

The new Deputy Provost, a Chief Lecturer in the School of Sciences, was until her appointment the Dean of Student Affairs of the College. At various times, she had successful tenures as Head of the Department of Integrated Science and Dean, School of Sciences, respectively.

 

The appointment of Mrs. Are F.T. has drawn wide commendation from members of the academic and administrative community of the College. The Chairperson of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE), Mrs. Theresa Oseya, described the appointment as timely and a due recognition given to the womenfolk. She gave assurance that the new Deputy Provost will perform beyond expectations.

 

The new Acting Deputy Provost, who has been in the service of the College since its inception, hails from Okoloke in Yagba West LGA of Kogi State. She is married with children.
