The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission(KOSIEC) on Wednesday 18th August 2021, issued a certificate of return to Barr. Segun Dare as the duly elected councilor of Asunta Ward in Kabba/Bunnu Local Government Area of the state.
This is based on the court of first instance ruling and subsequent appeal of 30th July 2012, held in favour of Barr. Segun Dare as the winner of the 12 December 2020 council election on the platform of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Asunta Ward; and dismissing the appeal of Mr Ayo Kajotoni as lacking in jurisdiction.
Presenting the certificate at his office in Lokoja, the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri said the commission had acted on the directives of the appellant court.
He congratulated Barr. Segun Dare on his success and urged him to be a good ambassador of his people at the centre.
