Kogi West Senator Karimi: Kidnappers Must Face Justice, Victims Deserve Safe Return
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, has condemned the early morning kidnapping attack in Ayegunle Bunu, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, describing it as tragic and a threat to community peace.
In a statement released on Monday, June 1, 2026, Senator Karimi said he was “deeply saddened” by the incident which claimed lives and left several residents in captivity. He extended condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Ayegunle Bunu, and the entire Kabba-Bunu community, praying for divine comfort and the safe return of all abducted victims.
“This painful incident is a stark reminder of the security challenges confronting our communities. Every citizen has the fundamental right to live in peace, move freely, and sleep without fear,” the senator stated. “Criminal elements must not be allowed to continue terrorizing innocent people and disrupting the peace of our land.”
Senator Karimi called on all relevant security agencies to intensify rescue operations and ensure the immediate and safe release of those still in captivity. He also demanded that perpetrators of the “heinous crime” be arrested and prosecuted without delay, while urging operatives to strengthen intelligence gathering to prevent future attacks.
He commended security personnel for their “gallantry, dedication, and recent successes,” particularly the rescue of over 20 abducted persons in the area, noting that their sacrifices remain commendable.
Addressing affected families and Ayegunle Bunu residents, the lawmaker urged them not to lose hope. He expressed confidence in divine intervention and in the capacity of security agencies to secure the safe return of victims. He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security authorities.
“May peace, security, and justice prevail in our communities,” he added.
