Kogi West Monarchs Applaud Tinubu, Ododo for Crushing Banditry, Pledge Support to APC Administrations

 

Traditional rulers from the seven Local Government Areas of Kogi West have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their decisive action against insecurity, noting that sustained security operations have drastically decimated banditry, kidnapping and insurgency in the zone.

Rising from a meeting held on Tuesday in Lokoja, the Royal Fathers said the proactive deployment of security architecture by both the Federal and State Governments has restored relative peace and confidence, making Kogi West safe again for lawful activities.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, His Royal Majesty, the Ohimege Igu of Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Salihu Seidu Akawu, said the insecurity that once crippled socio-economic life in the zone has received a “Waterloo” under the present administrations.

“The President and Governor Ododo swung into action by mobilizing enormous human and material resources to confront the menace of kidnapping and banditry,” the Ohimege Igu stated. “Today, Kogi West has become a safe haven where our people can go about their businesses without fear of attack from men of the underworld.”

The monarchs expressed appreciation to both governments for coming to the aid of the people at a time when insecurity threatened to overwhelm the zone. They noted that the heavy investment in security has effectively obliterated criminal elements from the area.

Alhaji Akawu disclosed that traditional rulers across Kogi West have intensified collaboration with security agencies and community members through timely intelligence sharing.

“The relative peace we are witnessing today is a direct manifestation of this synergy between the people, the traditional institution and government,” he said.

He further charged citizens to continue supporting the APC-led administrations at the centre and in the state in order to consolidate the dividends of democracy.

“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he added. “We urge government not to rest on its oars but to sustain the current momentum and restore total security confidence to our people.”

The Royal Father also called on traditional rulers in Kogi Central and Kogi East to counsel their subjects to embrace peace, unity and political tolerance ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Monarchs in attendance included representatives from Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopa-Muro and Lokoja LGAs.

The meeting ended with a unanimous vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Ododo for their commitment to securing lives and property in Kogi West.
