Following the outcome of yesterday’s Kogi State stakeholders meeting of the All Progressive Congress held in Abuja with His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello the executive governor of Kogi State and leader of the Party, Youths in the State have given kudos to the governor for not giving in to rising pressure from weaker aspirants to make delegates work on any Unity List of Aspirants in the State.
The outcome of the meeting is one that is capable of further putting the party on the leading track since no aspirant will have grudges against the party should he or she goes to the party’s primaries of and not make it as the party’s candidate.
Contrary to the rumour going across the State before now that His Excellency has given endorsement to some aspirants particularly in Kogi West Senatorial Seat, the outcome of yesterday’s meeting has further proven that His Excellency is not a partial governor who is one-sided but a man who believes in fairness and equity for all.
Youths in Kogi State have inline with the resolution of the “No Unity List” in Kogi State APC Aspirants, conferred on governor Yahaya Bello the title of the Icon of Fairness In Modern Day Politics, holding on the fact that it takes only a man like Bello in Buhari’s mind to be a leader that is for all and for no one in particular.
With the resolution, Youths of Kogi West Senatorial District are therefore charging the Party to bare in mind the very singular fact that the people of Kogi West Senatorial District are tired of drinking a particular wine and are therefore calling for the party to give the people room to enjoy new breath of growth and development in who becomes their next Senator.
“The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi West as at yesterday gave their Senate seat mandate to a new candidate as against the usual market of Dino Melaye and the motive for this is to boost their chances of winning the forthcoming general election through a credible candidate and judging from this, it should serve as a pointer to the All Progressive Congress APC in the State that any thing less than giving the people the chance to change their wine to a fresh one with a sweeter taste in the Senate seat, will no doubt give a rising hope to the PDP at the general election”.
In this light, since His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello has made us all to believe with a strong conviction that he has no preferential treatment for any candidate aside from the slot the party has generally voted for people living with disabilities to occupy in the State House of Assembly, the party leaders should therefore not play abracadabra by forcing any candidate on the people of Kogi West for anything less than this is capable of birthing unfair outing at the general poll as a result of grudges and grievances that will becloud the heart and mind of every aspirant who were not given the plain ground to test their popularity at the primaries.
Anything contrary to the decision of His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello on “No Unity List”, will be vehemently refuted by the people of Kogi West Senatorial District. Let every candidate who claims to be popular go to the primary poll of the party and test his level of popularity and accepted within the micro arena before being qualified to chest the party’s ticket for general election.
