Kogi Water Resources Commissioner, Engr Farouk, Begins Drilling of 3 Boreholes For Lokoja Residents.

 

The Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources Engr Yahaya MD Farouk has begun the drilling of three boreholes in different locations in Lokoja LGA.

 

The drilling of the boreholes is in compliance with the directives of Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, directing Commissioners in his administration to provide three Boreholes each in their respective Local Government Areas.

 

Towards meeting with the directives, drilling rigs and machines have been mobilized to site by the Commissioner for Water Resources.

A visit to one of the Location located along Ibrahim Taiwo Road, around the popular Alheri Junction, saw ongoing drilling of a borehole that is to serve the residents living in and around the area.

The boreholes, with an already overhead tank, has a capacity to store water for days, to serve the area.

Speaking on the project, the Engineer’s assured of a quality work, pointing out that the area after geological survey, has enough water that would last residents all year round.

The residents of Alheri were seen in jubilant mood, praised the administration of Gov Ododo for the initiative, described the Commissioner for Water Resources as a man who before now has ensured that the old Lokoja water works supply them with water weekly.

In his words, Mr. Peter Enerome, praised the State Government’s efforts, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner, pointing out that thus far, the quality of work ongoing in the location is appreciated, would help ameliorate the water challenge faced by residents of the area.

In his words, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, described the initiative as one that would complement the efforts of the State Government that ensured the resuscitation of the Old Lokoja water works, pending the coming on stream of the Greater Lokoja Water Works.

He added that the other two locations for the Borehole, that would be located outside Lokoja township has been concluded, will simultaneously commence in adherence to the directives by Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo.
