
Kogi Water Resources Commissioner, Appeals for Patience as State Battles Water Shortage Caused by Power Supply.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, has disclosed that the state Government
is working tirelessly to address the water challenge in Lokoja, assuring residents that no one, including the governor, himself, and waterworks staff, is resting until the issue is resolved.
He praised Lokoja residents living in area that is currently not getting adequate supply for their resilience and understanding, expressing optimism that the old Lokoja metropolis will soon enjoy unhindered water supply.
Engr Farouk made this statement during a press tour of ongoing water projects at the old Water Work, highlighting the administration’s efforts to provide potable water.
According to him, the administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo is aware of the importance of water and has not shirked its responsibilities, tracing the current challenge to power supply issues.
He explained that the government is working to address the power supply problem, which has hindered water production, and expects significant improvement soon.
Engr Farouk appealed to residents to be patient, stating that the waterworks is working to provide 24-hour water supply, disclosed that water works has made arrangements for tankers and other interested persons to take water at the premises of the waterworks.
The Commissioner thanked residents for their patience and understanding, praising the management and staff of Lokoja Waterworks for their sacrifice and hard work.
He disclosed that aside Ward D are of the Metropolis, other areas get water supply twice a day, said efforts to trace the supply problem to area is being addressed squarely, insisting that he and those concerned will do all that is needed to before the end of December achieve regular water supply in the metropolis.
The Commissioner expressed confidence that the administration will resolve the water crisis permanently in the coming days, citing the government’s commitment to providing potable water to citizens.
