 Kogi State Govt shortlists 75 candidates for Vacant Stool Of Ohinoyi Of Ebiraland

 

No fewer than 75 contestants for the throne of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland have been shortlisted by the Kogi State Ministry of Local Govt. and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The position of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland became vacant as a result of the transition of the  Late Ohinoyi, HRM, Dr. Alhaji Ado Ibrahim who died on 29th October, 2023.

About 75 contestants from all the clans in the four local government areas of kogi central senatorial district, had indicated an interest in occupying the vacant stool.

Amongst those personalities who have indicated interest are; the former clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Sani Omolori, former Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Dr. Phillips Salawu, Proffessor Of Educational Psychology at University of Abuja, Prof. Angela Oregwu Okatahi, HRH, Dr. Alhaji, Ahmed Tijanni Mohammed Anaje, Chairman/Managing Director, Isezuo Edward Jatto and a businessman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Salawu(Amas).

According to a source close to the ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who does not want his name in print, confirmed the numbers of applicants and said many interested persons applied for the vacant traditional stool, saying the government will soon embark on interviewing the applicants.

We also learnt that the ministry has taken a bold step in ensuring the process kick-started, “Whoever emerges among the shortlisted aspirants will be the candidate and the next Ohinoyi of Ebiraland,

“ The source revealed that the kingmakers would be carried along in all the proceedings and especially during the interview period. The kingmakers will be fully represented in the proceedings”.
