Kogi State Govt. Recommits To Safe Waterways Transportation, Inaugurates 25 Seaters Fibre Fly Boats, Donates 25 Life Jackets for each of the boats.

 

Kogi State Government has reiterated its readiness to continue to partner with Federal government and core stakeholders to boost marine transportation as it enhances affordability, comfortability and safety of lives and property of citizenry.

The state Commissioner for Transportation development, Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi, gave the assurances during the official deployment of twenty five Seaters Fibre Fly Boats and twenty five life jackets
to enhance marine transportation across the state.

He applauded the federal government under the watch of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for empowering agencies under the Ministry of Marine and blue economy and the Niger-Hydro electric power, producing areas development commission [N-HEPPADEC] in discharging their mandates geared towards securing lives, fastrack easy waterways transportation and cost effectiveness

He similarly lauded the Chief Servant of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his administration’s giant strides in executing viable policies and programmes that is targeted at enhancing good governance and reducing untold hardship the masses face in search of their daily living asserting that the launch of these boats attested to the government’s collaboration with the federal government.

According to Atuluku, two boats will serve –Lokoja -Ganaja–Shitaku-Pata- Budon -Kotokerfi waterways axis.

While one of the boat is to serve Bagana – Omala local government area and Idah – Ibaji axis got one of the boat to serve the transporters.

The Commissioner thank the Federal and Kogi State Government for the gesture, urge the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria to guide against any act of sabotage the good intention of the government saying that safety enforcement measures will be put in place to ensure a rancour free marine transportation system in the state.
