The Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere says in as much as the State Government is willing to begin all ongoing road construction in the metropolis recently awarded by the State Government, the Ministry is mindful of not shutting down the entire metropolis.
Engr. Ohere while speaking with the The Nigeria Post, says with the award of almost all the roads in the metropolis for rehabilitation and the reasphalting of some, it would be challenging to motorists and road users if the Contractor begin all the road construction at the same time without a systematic approach geared towards not shutting down the State Capital.
Engr. Ohere said the road construction work has been awarded to TEC Engineering Limited, said the same company is also responsible for the construction of the Ganaja Flyover Bridge, making it desirous to be systematic in work approach so as not to shut down the State Capital.
The Commissioner described TEC ENGINEERING as a Company with Commitment, having shown reliability and competence, assured that the brand new interchange and roads would be handed over by December, 2021.
He described the ongoing demolition and clearing of the site as work already in progress for the interchange, said the clearing up of the site would enable the creation of an alternative routes for motorists, remove the lighting, communication systems and other utilities for the proper commencement of the Ganaja Flyover Bridge.
The Commissioner disclosed that the state government has completed the payment for compensation with the affected landlords with properties on the Ganaja Flyover site, described the passion, commitment and high Political will of Gov. Yahaya Bello to the construction of the roads and interchange in State as unparalleled.
Engr. Ohere described Gov. Yahaya Bello as a Governor working for the best interest of the people, described his genuine compassion for the well-being of the people as what has made him submit wholly to the ongoing projects in the State inspite paucity of funds.
The Commissioner explained that the magnitude of work ongoing in the State in the area of road construction is aimed at improving the lots of roads in the State remains a feat deserving of commendation by Gov. Bello.
As a measure to ease the sufferings of the people while the road works will be ongoing, the Commissioner disclosed that the work will begin through the Dunamis end of the road and other that will be selected at a 70% -30% ratio so as not to shut down the town completely, assured that by June – July most of the township roads would be completed with December as completion of the interchange Flyover.
