Kogi State Government Takes a Significant Step in Education Sector with Inauguration of Implementation Committee for Government Science Secondary School in Ganaja
In a bid to revamp the education system in Kogi State, the government has taken a significant step by inaugurating the Committee on the Establishment of Government Science Secondary School in Ganaja, Ajaokuta Local Government Area. The inauguration ceremony, which took place in the office of the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, marks a new era in the development of education in the state.
The Committee, led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Abdulmalik Abdulahi, consists of key stakeholders in the education sector including the Permanent Secretary, Director of Basic and Secondary Education, and representatives from the State Universal Basic Education Board and the Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board. The Committee has been given a clear mandate to work towards the commencement of academic sessions by 25th September, 2025, and deliver a comprehensive and workable document outlining the establishment of the school.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Wemi Jones emphasized the importance of the new Government Science Secondary School in enhancing the quality of education in the state. He reiterated the commitment of the State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, to providing access to quality education for all citizens and ensuring the development of a skilled workforce for the future.
The establishment of the Government Science Secondary School in Ganaja is seen as a major milestone in the efforts of the Kogi State Government to improve education infrastructure and facilities across the state. It is expected that the school will not only provide quality education to students in Ajaokuta Local Government Area but also serve as a model for other educational institutions in the state.
