Kogi State government affirms commitment to accessible and qualitative health care for civil servants and their dependants

Kogi State government led by His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Ododo the executive governor of Kogi State has reaffirmed his commitment to sustain accessibility to qualitative health care services to the state civil servants and their dependants.
The Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare made this known at an interactive session between the agency, the leadership of the organized labour and civil servants in the state held at the conference hall of the office of the Head of service at the state Secretariat, Lokoja.
The Executive Secretary said over 13,000 civil servants (principal enrolles) which constitute 77% of the civil servants have so far been enrolled and accessing affordable healthcare services under the formal sector health insurance plan with minimal out of pocket payment for their health.
He thanked the Head of Service, Pastor Elijah Evenemi and the leadership of the organized labour in the state for their cooperation and support which accelerated the implementation of the formal sector plan.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Board of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Pharm. Suberu Arikochonu applauded governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for flagging-off the formal sector health insurance plan for the benefits of the civil servants in the state and their families He also thanked the leadership of the organized labour for their maximal support to the implementation of the programme.
Earlier the Kogi state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Gabriel Amari and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Ahmed Tijani applauded the state governor for providing good good governance to the people through the state Health Insurance Agency. They urged the civil servants to take advantage of the scheme to access quality health care services particularly in the current harsh economic condition in the country. They also appreciated the civil servants that gave feedback about the programme which will further strengthen the programme.
In a vote of thanks the board member of the agency, Hon Abraham Jacobs thanked the stakeholders for their tremendous contributions to the interactive session. He assured them of the state governor’s commitment to expand the coverage of the state health insurance agency to the other sectors in the state to enable the state achieve Universal Health Coverage.
