Kogi Stands Tall as host of 2021 NMMA


 

Gov. Bello list attributes of next Nigerian’s President.

For four days, Kogi State Stand tall as host of the 2021 Nigeria Media Merit Award.

The four days offered delegates from across the country opportunity to visit completed and ongoing project sites.

Without overstating the obvious and from the interaction with the delegates, the State stood out tall amongst commity of State’s in the Nation.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Gov. Yahaya Bello opined that attributes such as youthfulness, courage, diversity were qualities which the individual who would take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 must possess.

He added that such individual must hold a track record of a proven ability to enforce security, unity and peace in a large territory with difficult terrain.

He reiterated that the nation could not afford to get the question of the next Nigerian president wrong adding that such could be the end for Nigeria as we know it.

The Governor implored the media on behalf of the nation to allow themselves to be guided by the National interest in setting agenda for that pivotal year.

He alluded that there was the inescapable point of equity as for instance the North Central and South East geopolitical zones of this country have not held the Presidency or Vice Presidency, the two highest offices in the land, since return to civilian rule in 1999.

The governor recalled a visit from the leadership of the North Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM) who pointed out their pain at his historic disinclusion.

He added that he has also sat with many frontline leaders and ordinary folks from the South East Zone and all these interactions revealed that Nigeria has to find ways of doing equity in selecting her leaders in 2023 or the country would be merely playing dangerous politics and healing the wounds of the country deceitfully.
