The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Yusuf Aliyu Umar and Member, House of Representatives, representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Sulaiman Danladi Aguye have been conferred with the Chieftaincy titles of Madaki and Maji respectively of Agbaja Chiefdom, by the Maasi of Agbaja, HRH Abubakar Isa Adoga.

The ceremony which took place at LGA Primary School, Agbaja on Friday was attended by an array of dignitaries from within and outside Kogi State.

While conferring the chieftaincy title on the Lawmakers, the Maasi of Agbaja said, the conferment was an acknowledgement of the Lawmakers passion for the development of not only the Oworo Kingdom, but the whole of Lokoja local government area as well as their political exploits that have brought fame to the local, particularly Agbaja.

The traditional ruler described Umar and Aguye as reliable men who deserved the honour, saying, the chieftaincy title “MADAKI” means somebody who brings succour to the people and “MAJI” the treasurer of the Chiefdom adding that the lawmakers have proven to be trusted allies in the constituency.

Also speaking at the event, Abdullahi Adamu, APC Cheiftain in Lokoja LGA, commended the lawmakers for their good representation at the National and state Assemblies.

He said the traditional title is in recognition of the lawmakers performances.

He tasks all titleholders to support the Maasi of Agbaja in developing the community.

The APC Cheiftain who was excited about the honour, thanked the Agbaja kingmakers and Traditional Council which deem it fit to Honour the two Lawmakers.

Speaking on behalf of other recipients, Hon. Sulaiman Danladi Aguye said the chieftaincy title is an added responsibility to them and pledged to continue to work round the clock in giving his people a voice and good representation at both the National and State Assembly.

He added that the honour showed that their constituents appreciated all they have been doing for them, especially since they were elected to represent them.

Aguye, assured the constituents that they would not relent in their efforts to serve the people of the constituency.
