Mathew Kolawole, has assured the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC , Kogi State of government support and improved welfare packages.
The Speaker gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Coordinator, Pst. Mrs Mofoluwaso Williams on Saturday, Kolawole said he would support the scheme.
Kolawole said the NYSC scheme is impacting youth across the country hence Kogi State Government will do all within its power to increase and improve infrastructural provisions at the Kogi State NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya.
“I want to sincerely appreciate the State Coordinator for enabling her to intimate us with some of the challenges facing the scheme in Kogi State and let me assure you that the State Governor, His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello will be fully briefed. But on behalf of the Government of Kogi State, I want to say that we will upgrade facilities at the orientation camp to make it more comfortable for Corps members and staff”
He thanked the State coordinator for the warm reception and reminisced over his service year in the 90’s, how he served as the Editorial President of his CDS group and was dedicated to serving his fatherland.
While going down memory lane on how various PPA’s had rejected him as a serving Corp member in the 90’s for 4 month without Place of Primary Assignment which finally resulted him to have served in a Gospel Life Redemption Church, Abuja for 3 month.
In her response, Mrs. Williams thanked the Speaker for the visit and urged him to support the scheme with more projects and support for the development of the state explaining that she wants to reach out to the major stakeholders in the State on the need to give more support to the scheme.
Mrs Williams hinted that regular increase in the population of Corps members posted to Kogi State has necessitated the need for the provision of more facilities as well as Parameter fencing of the camp and other needs
