The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has donated a brand new Toyota Prado Jeep to His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dauda Kabir Isah, the Mayaki of Kupa Kingdom, to ease his official duties and enhance traditional administration in the domain.
The presentation was made in Lokoja, with the Commissioner describing the gesture as part of efforts to support traditional institutions that play a vital role in governance, security and community development at the grassroots.
Speaking during the presentation, Engr. Gegu said the Mayaki of Kupa has continued to provide purposeful leadership and foster peace in Kupa Kingdom, a strategic district in Lokoja Local Government Area known for its fertile land, mineral wealth, and huge potential in agriculture, mining and tourism.
“Traditional rulers are critical partners in government. This vehicle is to support His Royal Highness in carrying out his responsibilities effectively, especially in mobilizing his people for development and in interfacing with government on issues affecting Kupa Kingdom,” the Commissioner stated.
He added that the donation aligns with the *Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo* administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and unlocking the economic potentials of host communities across Kogi State, particularly in the solid minerals sector.
Responding, the Mayaki of Kupa Kingdom, HRH Alhaji Dauda Kabir Isah, expressed profound appreciation to Engr. Gegu and the Kogi State Government for the support. He described the donation as timely and a demonstration of the government’s recognition of the role of traditional rulers in peace-building and development.
The royal father pledged to continue to mobilize his people for unity, security and investment opportunities that will benefit Kupa Kingdom and Kogi State at large.
The event was attended by community leaders, government officials and well-wishers who commended the Commissioner for the philanthropic gesture.
