Kogi SA Environment Joins In Calls for Illegal Miners to Heed Warnings of Deputy Governor to Desist From Carrying out Illegal Mining in Enjema District.

 

The Special Adviser on Environment to the Kogi State Government, Hon. Ibrahim Aboh has lauded the decision of the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Comr. Joel Oyibo Salifu in calling to order those engaged in illegal Mining in and around the Enjema district of Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State to desist forthwith.

Hon. Aboh who spoke shortly after the visit to the Mining sites with the Deputy Governor, lamented the activities of illegal Miners
in the area, commended the State Deputy Governor for taking such decisive actions and to also call on those engaged in the illegal mining to desist immediately.

Hon. Aboh said the Deputy Governor was furious at the activities of the illegal Miners, urged those who are in the habit to heed to the warning of the State Deputy Governor in order to protect the environment as well as carry out their activities in line with the rules and regulations of mining as stipulated by the State Government.

Hon. Aboh urged those engaged in such illegal mining activities in the Enjema district to make a retreat, before the long arms of the law catches up with them.

” What we saw at the mining sites is not encouraging. The activities of these illegal miners is destroying the environment as well as depriving the State of the needed revenue”.

” It is unfortunate that we still have some mischief makers who are destroying our society and making life unbearable for our people despite the effort of the State Government”.

” The administration of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo is committed to ensuring that due process is followed in mining in the State and we will not fold our hands and watch the degrading of the environment”.

” Let me also commend and join the State Deputy Governor in calling to order those engaged in the illegal mining to desist as the present administration is resolved to bringing sanity and due process to the activities of mining in the State”.

Hon. Ibrahim Aboh was on the entourage of the State Deputy Governor to visit the mining sites, lauded the Deputy Governor for working in the vision of Gov. Ododo to halt illegal mining in the State.
